Fruitstitute will offer 6 weekend workshops, hosted in partnership with Los Angeles Parks Foundation at the Franklin Canyon Orange Grove. This Orange Grove is one of LA’s original citrus orchards sitting on a 4.3 acre parcel in Beverly Hills. Under the care of the Parks Foundation, the trees are harvested each year by volunteers who distribute the fruit to local food pantries and soup kitchens. The goal of this workshop series is to give the trees the care they need to improve tree health and increase fruit productivity for the annual harvest.

Each workshop will begin with a lecture on seasonal care of citrus trees, including tree assessment, biology and physiology. This discussion will be followed by a two-hour pruning session where participants will gain hands-on experience pruning citrus trees in the Orange Grove “classroom.”
